Your Citi Rewards Card 10X points aren’t gonna to work at these watch and jewellery boutiques, but your Amex Platinum Credit Card will be great!

Reward points need-to-knows

Convert your Membership Reward points to air miles: Unlike an AMEX Krisflyer Credit Card, you can convert your points to miles of several airlines including Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, British Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Thai Airways, Emirates and more. The conversion is based on 450 Membership Reward points = 250 air miles. That works out to be around 0.69 miles/dollar, or 3.47 miles at select partners.

Also, the transfer fees from points to miles is perpetually waived on this card. Which means you will save S$40 per conversion.

The rate of redemption to offset your bill is 1,000 Membership Reward points to S$5. It is applicable on merchants enrolled with SafeKey.

Pay credit card bills: You can use your reward points to pay your credit card bills.

Wow factor: The reward points on this AMEX credit card will never expire. So, you have the option to accumulate your points and go for the big payout.

Security blanket on your purchases – No Worries Guarantee

After making a purchase using this card, if you are not satisfied with it, you can return it. You can be refunded up to S$800 per returned item with the “90-days return guarantee”. That’s 3 months to make up your mind. And even better – if the store doesn’t accept your return, you can still return it under this guarantee.

Also, this card automatically insures your purchases against theft and accidental damages for 90 days. You will be covered for up to S$10,000 per incident under the “90-days purchase protection”.

Remember this: The No Worries Guarantee is applicable for purchases made in Singapore only.

Who is this card REALLY for?

If you’ve come so far, at this point you’ve already ventured a guess as to whether this card is what you need right now. If you are someone who believes that ambience and presentation of food are just as important as the taste of the food itself and aren’t satisfied with anything below “5-stars”, this card is a must-have for you.

Also, those who travel can benefit from this card because it allows you to convert your points to miles. So, your taste for fine dining can cover your flight tickets on your next trip! So, eat more to fly often – ready for the challenge?

This card is especially meant for those who want to leave an impression. Making an impression today isn’t an impenetrable task anymore, leaving it in others’ minds still is. This card can add the “fine” in anything from dining to lifestyle.

Our recommendation

The beauty of this card is that it can perfectly complement other credit cards such as a travel credit card or a rewards credit card. But it works fine even as a standalone card.

For instance, we Singaporeans use credit cards in our daily lives for physically or virtually everything. Fine dining, golfing and spa trips might not be an everyday occurrence. As this a “Platinum” card, it can be your special occasions card.

On the other hand, you can also use the card more often than you can think of. Retail purchases on this card will earn you reward points which you can then redeem for a variety of benefits. Your purchases are also protected with the No Worries Guarantee for a hassle-free shopping experience.

So, what are YOU planning to use the American Express Platinum Credit Card for?
